The Spectre line of laptops is HP's premium range of sleek and highly portable computing devices.
Freshened up with "Tiger Lake" 11th Generation silicon, HP's stylish Spectre x360 13 is one of the best 13.3-inch convertible laptops, but once you see the 3:2 aspect ratio display of its x360 14 stablemate, it's hard to go back.
The screen is bright and crisp, with vivid colors and nicely white backgrounds. Contrast is good, and viewing angles are wide; details are as clear as 1080p resolution can make them. The 720p webcam above the display captures slightly soft-focus but relatively well-lit and colorful images with a bit of digital noise or static.
The screen size is big enough for an enriching gaming, surfing and video watching experience. On the memory front, the laptop is equipped with a hard drive of 512 GB and a 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM,thereby making it possible to store ample amount of data.
Sound from the bottom-mounted speakers isn't very loud, but it's acceptable for videos and music—a little flat and lacking in bass, but not fuzzy or tinny even at max volume.Bang & Olufsen software lets you play with music, movie, and voice presets and adjust bass and treble; its equalizer seems to muffle audio.
OLED is dimmer than the IPS option. The gen-to-gen updates over 10th gen Ice Lake are massive in terms of graphics performance, but everything else remains essentially unchanged. If you're not doing any gaming or picture editing, then last year's model will be more than enough.
Port options and positioning are the same as on the 2019 Spectre x360 13 including the dual Thunderbolt 3 ports. It's somewhat disappointing that the USB-C ports have not been upgraded to Thunderbolt 4, but HP is promising 40 Gbps per port regardless. The integrated USB-A port is appreciated since certain convertibles lack the option.
A SIM slot is available along the left edge if configured with 4G LTE.
